On Thursday, April 21, 2016 Bill 704A was signed into law. It requires the N.Y.C. Department of Small Business Services to conduct a voluntary survey of companies that do business with the City to collect data on the gender, racial, and ethnic diversity among the directors, officers, and executive-level staff members of such companies. The survey will additionally request information on companies’ plans to improve diversity in such positions and efforts taken to achieve those plans.
This is the beginning of answering the need for transparency of equality, diversity and plans to improve diversity in the C Suite and on boards.
